Synthesis report Sharing Cities: Exploring the Emerging Landscape of the Sharing Economy in Cities

Urban Sharing researcher Yuliya Voytenko Palgan contributed to a synthesis report entitled Sharing Cities: Exploring the Emerging Landscape of the Sharing Economy in Cities, which was produced in April 2019 as part of the Sharing Cities Sweden programme. The report captures the lessons learned and ambitious goals of the sharing economy test-beds in Stockholm, Malmö, Umeå and Göteborg. Yuliya has contributed to this report with an article on insights into governing sharing cities. The document also contains articles on the journeys of the test-beds, a discussion of designing test-beds as urban living labs, and an overview of strategic thinking on sharing cities.

Scaling up sharing potential

Scaling up sharing potential

In January 2019 a new Swedish project called “Delningens potential för minskad miljöpåverkan” (in English: “The potential of sharing for reduced environmental impact”) has been finalised. The project was financed by RE:source program and led by IVL in collaboration with KTH and Lund University. Andrius Plepys was one of the collaborators in the project.

The project investigated three sharing segments in Sweden - mobility, space and goods sharing - where potential for increased resource efficiency and reduced environmental impact are expected. It estimated the scale and the nature of environmental implications and discussed how the sustainability potential could be enhanced. The project also identified several obstacles, roles of different stakeholders and provided suggestions for activities that RE: Source should continue working with. Project report (in Swedish) will soon be made available online.
